We have Vietnam Veteran’s band of merry men at the Hut. They represent our backbone handling many of the leadership positions. With rare exception most all served in country. Flags No More

Flags have gone up and then put away, thanks to a hearty group of volunteers.  Babo has done a remarkable job once again, this year heading the effort.  But the Hominy community also pitched in with help and financials to replace those flags that inevitably get damaged by weather every year.  Special thanks to Jerry Sebert along with Charlie O’ and his daughter Susan Evans, with grandkids Sebastian (age 4) and Natasha (age 8), along with Babo who got off his sick bed to help.  They collected all of the flags and are now stored.  Some of the flags were damaged by the storms we had with the flags out for two weeks, but Babo has a plan for replacements.  My salute goes out to those that helped with this, as well as our new Air Conditioning. I thought it would be appropriate to continue honoring other Oklahomans who served valiantly in our conflicts. It would be suitable to reflect on a Medal of Honor Recipient. Doing Business

I had a great experience over the past few weeks. I was privileged to attend a conference meeting for the American Legion state wide in Oklahoma City. It was refreshing to talk on the trip down and back, with our Commander Charles O’Leary. Fathers

I found myself reflecting on how fathers can impact our lives, sometimes in positive ways and sometimes not. I look around the ‘Hut’ at the gents that attend and think of all of the influence they have had on their children, some I have met, some I have not. These are guys that come out, participate, and contribute to the country and the community. That is a positive role model if I ever saw one. It made me think about my father. Continue reading
