We enjoyed a special surprise this third week Thursday evening’s
American Legion meeting. Jerry Sebert had informed the Post Commander
Charles O’Leary that after our last feast at the Officer Installation
ceremony he still had plenty of ribs. Realizing that when the troops
are well fed morale goes up and things get done, he put out the word
for side dishes and Ta-Da! We had a second feast. The troops brought
homemade potato salad, BBQ beans, home fried Okra, cookies, and an
assortment of other salads from the local store (loved the coleslaw).

The American Legion Post 142 hosted its Installation of Officers 08 Aug
2013 and had an outstanding showing. Right off the bat I have tip my
hat to fellow fly boy Jerry Sebert for his incredible BBQ ribs. Best I
ever had! The Auxiliary really came through with various salads, side
dishes, and deserts. . Our special guest officiators were Lucky Ludwig
(State Sergeant at Arms) and the Auxiliary Department Past President

What a terrific week with the gang at Post 142. I slipped in for
breakfast with the usual cast of characters and got a kick out of some
of the conversations. If you are a veteran and haven’t come through for
waffles or biscuits and gravy you are really missing out. Eli Prater
