Stop-Loss Deadline Extended to Oct. 21

U.S. Service members who were kept on duty past their original discharge following the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks have until Oct. 21 to claim their retroactive pay.

The following is an announcement from the American Legion national organization.

The deadline for eligible service members, veterans and their beneficiaries to apply for Retroactive Stop Loss Special Pay (RSLSP) has been extended to Oct. 21 allowing those eligible more time to apply for the benefits they’ve earned under the program guidelines. Continue reading

74th National Oratorical Contest

The top three finalists for the 2011 American Legion High School Oratorical Scholarship Program, “A Constitutional Speech Contest,” gave their oration and assigned topic speech on stage Sunday morning (April 17) in front of an auditorium filled with family, friends, judges, Legionnaires and other distinguished guests. VA Changes Billing Process for Third Party Pharmacy Prescriptions

WASHINGTON The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is implementing a new billing process for charging third party insurers for outpatient prescription medications provided to Veterans for conditions unrelated to their military service. This change will not affect Veterans’ co-payments for prescriptions.
