It’s Hot!

As I convalesce in the dog days of the August Oklahoma heat, I tend to stay inside and avoid the trauma of the high temperatures.   For those hearty few that read my ramblings, I would be remiss not to remind you to check on your elders.  Make sure they have the old AC going, and just let them know you are thinking about them.  Also ensure your critters are well tended.  My three “lucky dogs” lie on the floor downstairs living like kings and queens without a care in the world.  I have become more sensitive to the issue having been dealt a heat stoke a few months back.  It was not fun, and as a former Safety NCO you have your orders to hydrate and avoid excessive exposure.  Okay, safety briefing concluded.

I missed the last Hut meeting due to a little vacation plan.  Normally things are quiet around the Hut during these days when vacations are wrapping up, football season starts ramping up, and school begins.  But things will change quickly soon.  Election season is around the corner, and all of those pesky signs will begin to pop up.  With Veteran’s Day around the corner, you know Babo and our crew will be in full force getting Old Glory out in the community to ensure we maintain the heritage of our faith and country.  It is very important that you, my readers, pass this value on to your kids.
Try to find time to drop by and visit the Hut. It is in stages of development and those changes are fantastic. Things are moving around and there are new additions as well.  One item to note are the flags and emblems placed to recognize the conflicts and commitment of our past all the way up to today.
Keep an eye on your calendar to the next community series of events.  I so look forward to; the Halloween Downtown Event, Veteran’s Day Events, and Christmas Parade.
Our regular meetings are the first and third Thursdays at 7:00 PM (4th of Sept).  An added plus is that quarterly the meeting will be a shared event with the Auxiliary (more details to follow, still waiting).  Monday morning Koffee Klatch meetings for August and September are still up and running starting around 0700 till about 0900.  And, now that I am an official “retiree” come by where we catch up on each other’s mischief and storytelling, I’ll take notes.  If you are a veteran come on by.  If you have a good story it may end up in print!
