Oh, what a night! The annual Legion-Auxiliary Valentine Dinner at the Hut was amazing. The Legion provided the meat dish (Ribs which I call meat with handles) and Auxiliary/spouses the sides and desserts, and oh what desserts they were. There was humor, hugs, pictures, and a whole lot of love. Not bad for a bunch of GI Grunts but the ladies make us our finest when the moment calls. Not to be remiss we had great lady veterans that also came to share to love and they are amazing.
Most of the evening was an enjoyment of great food (thanks Chef Sebert and Auxiliary) and humor that usually shot across different branches of military servants (Army still has the upper hand but we USAF types are catching up). This was framed over the best part of the evening, the ceremony of the MIA/POW table, honoring those lost and missing. Awesome job Commander O’Leary and Vice Commander Swinford. Well done.
In March, we will have updates from the District meetings. I do have a confession, Betsy the old Army Jeep that thinks she is a USAF Jeep has been dying to get out for a parade. Soon spring will be here and Betsy will be a happy gal.
The Monday morning Koffee Klatch meetings for February, except when it is below freezing, are still scheduled for biscuits and gravy and always a cup of coffee. And meetings are the first and third Thursday evenings (Feb 16th).
Keep your eye on the weather in case things must be postponed. If you are a veteran come on by. If you have a good story it may end up in print. Also, keep up with us at website “americanlegion142.org”.
