Sons of the American Legion, Hominy Style

Before I start I had new information to share since this article was published.  We lost Stan Mueller last week. He was a consistent and loyal member of the Hut. He was a swabbie, That means Navy. Marines are Jar Heads, us Airforce guys are fly boys. Army? Well that is not printable (LOL). Stan was a great guy who I always enjoyed talking to. He lost his wife and many think that was part of his story. Salute Stan, see you at the campfire. Keep the coffee hot.

I have a correction on last weeks article. Tthe Post 142 Sons of the American Legion chapter is established but the commander is John Hamilton. Mr. Cook from Talala inducted the chapter last week. I have transferred my SAL membership from my old post the new group as a “dual” member. If you have a son whose grand pa was a veteran (or grand ma) contact us and let us know so we can get them signed up.

The Sons of the American Legion is a patriotic service organization formed on September 12–15, 1932. The S.A.L. is made up of male descendants of people who served in the United States Armed Forces during times specified by the American Legion. The Sons of the American Legion’s mission to serve veterans, the military and their families is carried out through its hundreds of outreach programs delivered by its members, volunteers and national headquarters. The Sons of the American Legion’s national headquarters is located in Indianapolis.

The SAL 142 will meet the 1st Thursday of each month at the Hut at 5:00 PM and adjourn at 6:00 PM. To inquire about joining email John Hamilton at goofymail-alsqn142@yahoo.com.

A final reminder, the regular Legion meeting is the first and third Thursday of the month in May that is the 2nd coming up. Monday morning Koffee Klatch meetings in April and May are still scheduled for biscuits and gravy and always a cup of Joe (coffee to the civilians). Just watch the weather, it is the only factor that my change that. I think the Chef is on duty as we are heading into spring. If you are a veteran come on by. If you have a good story it may end up in print. Also keep up with us at website “americanlegion142.org”.
