Veteran of the Month
This past week a fellow Legionnaire, 2nd Vice Commander Louis M. Hale Jr., from our Hominy Post 142 brought to my attention an award that Louis presented to PA Joanna G Sanford on October 27, 2021, with the Post 58 Veteran of the Month Certificate from Post 58 in Arizona. The Certificate was presented at the Wah-Zah-Zhi Health Center.
U.S. Marine Uniform Mystery
A couple of weeks ago I stopped by the Hut to check on something and I found, hanging on the Hut doorknob, a U.S. Marine Uniform that includes a Jacket, Shirt, Tie, insignias, and Medals. I asked all the Guys at the Hut and none of them had any idea where the uniform came from. All the Legionnaire said I should put it in the paper and maybe whoever left it at the Hut will come forward and let us know who the uniform belonged to. According to the stripes on the jacket sleeve the Marine was a Sergeant and the ribbons on the front of the jacket are the Bronze Star, Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation Ribbon, National Defense Ribbon, Vietnam Service Ribbon, and the Vietnam Campaign Ribbon. A picture of the uniform is posted bellow.
Until further notice, our regular Legion meeting will be the third Thursday of each month. Our next meeting will be on Thursday, November 18th at 7:00 PM. The next Sons of the American Legion (SAL) will be on Thursday, November 18th at 5:00 PM. The Monday morning Koffee Klatch meetings have been resumed at 8:00 AM. If you are a veteran, come by for our monthly meeting, and/or the Monday morning Koffee Klatch meetings. Several of the Post 142 members meet on Wednesday’s at Daylight Donuts on OK-99 around 8:00 AM in Hominy for coffee and breakfast treats. If you have a good story, it may end up in print. Also, keep up with us at the Post 142 website “americanlegion142.org” and Hominy Legion on Facebook.
