Another Great Veteran’s day

Friday November 18th our flags will be tucked away with one more memorable Veteran’s Day behind us. The City and High School did an outstanding job recognizing those who served in our community. Our Veterans of the Year honorable ones this year were Bob Hough, Dean Bach, and James Frazier. It was great to see Jim and Polly but a special salute goes out to their son Michael, who travelled from glitzy Las Vegas Nevada to attend.

Veteran’s Day and Blankets of Honor

The team put out flags on Main Street and Highway 99 and 20 on Friday November 4th and they will remain up till Friday November 18th as Veteran’s Day is upon us. This is the time we recognize those who serve and have served regardless of the capacity or branch of service. We have those who have seen the worst conflict can dish out and those whose contributions supported “the tip of the spear”. All, at one time, raised a right hand and swore an oath to defend the Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic. All gave some, some gave all.

The Looming Storm of December 7th

First the local news. Thanks to all that showed up to help satiate the goblins and other trick or treaters earlier this week. Once again the Auxiliary out did themselves. We will put out flags on Main Street and Highway 99 and 20 on Friday November 4th and take up on Friday November 18th as Veteran’s Day is approaching and is a major military holiday.

Tuskegee Airman

One of the many things I respected about the military I served in during my twenty-nine plus years was the focus on getting the mission done. That was above all, number one. To that end team work and excellence became the standard for performance. Regardless of where you came from or who you knew it was all about what you brought to the team to achieve the mission.

Anchors Aweigh!

For Oct 20th 2016–This past week on October 13th 1775 the U.S. Navy was founded. The Continental Congress voted to fit out two sailing vessels, armed with ten carriage guns, as well as swivel guns, and manned by crews of eighty, and to send them out on a cruise of three months to intercept transports carrying munitions and stores to the British army in America.
