Full of Beans and Grateful

I was thinking on words that would be meaningful about our Thanksgiving Day experience this week and looked at something I wrote last year about this time. I think it bears repeating and still rings true. Allow me to repeat those thoughts.

“This week we reflect on all the many things we have to be thankful for. Not just material things but our freedoms to choose. This is not something everyone has especially on the other side of the planet. Our Founding Fathers crafted the great experiment that overtime through wrong turns and bumps gave us a nation where you can pretty much reach for any star you put your mind to. Although these freedoms are protected by rough men and strong women willing to do hard things (our veterans and now serving soldiers), it is important to consider the process of Thanksgiving. The thankful (you) reflect on those things you are blessed with and then to transmit you’re thanks to our Supreme Commander in Heaven. Simple huh?”The November the 18th Beans and Cornbread fundraiser was a huge success! Thanks to all who came out or ordered. I must say the variety was impressive and there was a cake fashioned in heaven and delivered by the hands of Mrs. Jackson. I had one serving, then two…okay, then three. Wow.

Flags were gathered as well from the Veteran’s Day weeklong display. The guys pitched in. Other local citizen-patriot brought a flag in the had fallen due to its mounting bracket breaking in the wind. It was delivered with care and respect. I didn’t get his name but to him I say “Salute Sir!” and thank you.

Here are a few of the details for December activities. The Legion-Auxiliary Christmas Dinner December 15th will begin at 6 PM that Thursday evening.  Chicken Noodle fundraiser luncheon with be Friday December 16th. 11 AM till 1 PM. The big Christmas Parade will be on Saturday evening December 17th at 6 PM. We will represent the Hut well that evening under special orders from the big guy with the white beard (no, not Mac Ceska). And the outstanding Bucks football team continues in the play-offs; on to be the State Champions! Go BUCKS!

Our regular meetings are the 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month. (1st of December). The Monday morning Koffee Klatch meetings for the rest November and for December Monday’s (updates may be pending) are still scheduled for biscuits and gravy and always a cup of Joe (coffee to the civilians).  Keep your eye on the weather in case things have to be postponed. If you are a veteran come on by. If you have a good story it may end up in print. Also keep up with us at website “americanlegion142.org”.
