Post 142 was proudly represented at this year’s Christmas Parade. Sadly, I was AWOL, sick as a dog missing my brothers in arms. Kudos to Chris and Carl for their stand-up representation. The flu ambushed me this week as well as a few other things. Last week’s paper displayed a WWI tank mock up Carl’s son put together for the parade. He made some comments about our WWI heritage. Carl, play “Sgt York” with that young man. He as a bright future.
The annual Legion-Auxiliary Christmas dinner will be Thursday December 7th at 6:00 PM at the Hut. Legion will provide the meat, Ham and Auxiliary-spouses will provide the sides and desserts. Ham, hmm, Chef Sebert’s specialty! I can’t wait!
Check this week’s paper on the Ken Taylor events, Jimmie Ratliff and Dianna Garrett are handling our honoring of one of Hominy’s own who Governor Fallin proclaimed last year “Kenneth Taylor Day” He shot down the first Zero over Pearl Harbor on that “Day of Infamy”.
A special date will be Friday December 15th where we are planning another “Cornbread and Beans” fundraiser luncheon 11-1 at the Hut and will have carry-out available again. Our next regular legion meeting will be Thursday December 21st at the Hut at 7:00 PM. Also, a special
thanks, and special salute to Jerry Sebert and everyone who worked on the Chicken-Noodle luncheon fundraiser. We raised $600 before expenses! Great job everyone!
Don’t forget our regular meetings continue the first and third Thursdays of the month at 7:00 PM. Monday morning Koffee Klatch meetings for December are still scheduled for biscuits and gravy and always a cup of Joe (coffee to the civilians).
Keep your eye on the weather in case things have to be postponed. That will be most likely if the storms bring strong winds and lightning. If you are a veteran come on by. If you have a good story it may end up in print. Also keep up with us at website “americanlegion142.org”.
