What a time for Hominy! Our High School football team was fantastic. While we are proud of our players I think, we are also proud of all our students at school. They are involved in the community and all types of activities. I have seen some attend our community movies and believe they are the future of Hominy.
This past week, the Legion-Auxiliary Christmas Dinner was a great success. As was our proclamation of Kenneth Taylor Day for Hominy’s own, Kenneth Taylor in Oklahoma the Saturday preceding 7 December for his bravery during the attack on Pearl Harbor. A picture of Kenneth Taylor (from the Hut), his military hat (courtesy of the Heritage Association), and the Proclamation have been on display at the City Library for all to see. After Christmas, the Library and Proclamation and picture will remain on permanent display.
Next week will be the last newspaper till 2018. I will try to write up something special. It is a good time to remember why we have this wonderful time of the year. Warm fireplaces, good friends, and family; the things we treasure are given at a high cost of those who still serve today far from home, fireplaces, friends, and family. We appreciate our soldiers and your veterans. But most of all, the birth of the author of our freedom. The Savior.
Don’t forget our regular meetings continue the first and third Thursdays of the month at 7:00 PM. Monday morning Koffee Klatch meetings for December are still scheduled for biscuits and gravy and always a cup of Joe (coffee to the civilians).
Keep your eye on the weather in case things have to be postponed. That will be most likely if the storms bring strong winds and lightning. If you are a veteran come on by. If you have a good story it may end up in print. Also keep up with us at website “americanlegion142.org”.
