Back on Duty

I took last week off due to my focus on a military reunion I agreed to host in Tulsa last weekend. Vice Commander and Department Vice Commader East Charles O’Leary and his wonderful wife Nancy joined my wife and me for the banquet that featured guest speakers Lt. Gov. Matt Pinnell, Major General Rita Aragon, and Lt. General Harry “Buddy” Wyatt. It was well attended and an exceptional success. I have know all three of these folks for many years. Now, retired, I am going to relax and focus on the “News from the Hut” and Election Board duties.

Another new raffle drawing for this winter is here! It will be another 10-Gun Raffle. John Hamilton and Steve Swinford have the posters and tickets. Make sure you honk and wave at our crews as thy remind us freedom isn’t free. Speaking of service, a special thanks to Jimmy Himes for mowing the lawn before Thursday’s meeting. It looked real nice. While we are on “good vibes” Ree Drummond and The Mercantile at Pawhuska has donated three crock-pots to Post 142 to assist us in preparing our meals. Thank you Linda Hale for reaching out and facilitating securing this unexpected and pleasant gift!

We still have 100th anniversary American Legion “Challenge’ Coins for $10. They are one of a kind and a collectable item. I had one but I keep giving them to a few special veteran friends. I will be buying a few more!
