Ladies First!

Throughout my thirty year military career I watched women in the military progress in their roles in the military. Roles were predominately administrative and medical in nature. Things gradually changed to the current age where my last unit has a Lt. Col. Commander happen to be a lady. As a Chief I never saw a gender, religion, or anything except the uniform ad the mission. Once Again

So being the author of this weekly page is difficult. Last week we lost my Navy buddy Stan Mueller. He was a consistient and strong supporter of our Hut, You can read his historical Obituaries of course. II can tell you my knowledge of him. Strength in character and always with a quick wit. I will miss his smile, handshake, and open heart. Salute Stan. You and all the there are in my heart are around a comfortable setting. It is growing dark at the campfires. You sipping eternal coffee smiling at all our other brothers who have “transferred”. Keep the Joe hot buddy, we will be there soon.

He lost his wife and many think that was part of his story. Salute Stan, see you at the campfire. Keep the coffee hot.

Did you know he was a colonel in the USAF and served in command posts in Vietnam? When he found out I was a retired Chief Master Sargent and a former fighter and bomber bomb loader, well let’s just say, our friendship grew.

Hominy Loses a Patriot

As many know we lost our past commander James (Jim) Frazier. Those who read the local paper saw him recognized with an extensive and impressive obituary. He was an Army veteran from Vietnam Era as well as re-upping during the Gulf War. I was a member of another Post that was a distance away. I happened into Marvins’s Grocery store in Hominy one day and saw our local paper. I was not familiar with Hominy so I picked up the paper took it home and read it.
