The Main Street Treats downtown event was fantastic success once again! The Auxiliary Ladies, as always, carried the load with the help of Dick Pope and a few other hearty souls while Babo, Chris, Stan, I, and some of the crew sat and goofed off judging the costumes as they went by. A few of the favorites were, of course, some boys in Army uniforms; and there was the Predator costume, Hulk, and such. Continue reading

I reflect on the New Testament and note the miracle of feeding the 5,000, as well as the Last Supper. So, it seems natural that the Hut puts on some of the finest ‘get-togethers’ and last Saturday was no exception. Continue reading

As reported last week, the Legion hats are in…both summer mesh (low profile) and winter hats (regular profile). At last Thursday evening’s meeting, they were distributed free to WWII and Korea vets and our newer members. After some discussion, it was agreed a good price for other members and the public at large would be $10 per hat. Not only is that a bargain price, it still allows for the Post to have a little wiggle room on the financials of the Hut. Continue reading

2014 Fall Activities

The Main Street Treats will be Thursday, October 30th.  The Hut’s candy table is always busy.   It kicks off at 6:00 PM, so get in line!

Post members are invited to the Fairfax Veterans’ Day Parade on Saturday, November 8th.  With a start time of 11:00 AM; we will be gathering at 10:00 AM beforehand by the Baptist Church on South Main in Fairfax.  Breakfast will be provided at the High School 7:00 – 10:00 AM by the Woodland F.F.A.  At the end of the parade, there will be a free dinner for Veterans and families on the southwest end of town at the Senior Citizens Veteran’s building.  Sounds like lots of fun and food so come on out!

On November 11th (Veteran’s Day), Hominy High School will host an event to honor America’s Veterans. The annual presentation is always impressive. It will be followed by lunch catered by Mac’s BBQ. It starts at 11:30 am till 12:30 am and veterans are welcome.

Christmas Parade will be the next item on the horizon.  I will be inquiring if a date has been established so we all can mark our calendars with date and time.
